Pictures of Rye

Here are a few pictures of Rye.  I can't believe he is almost 2 months old!  He has started smiling and laughing whenever he is awake and getting attention.  Noah and Ben love getting him to smile and he loves smiling at them.  This of course makes their mama smile as well.  :)

Settling into Summer

I hope today is an example of what our summer is going to be like.  The boys and I had a leisurely breakfast and enjoyed sitting around in our PJs for a while.  Around 8:30 Ben noticed a turtle in our yard.  The boys spent the next hour feeding the turtle strawberries (turtles eat slowly).  I spent that time feeding Rye while reading a book.  After finishing the book, I got some big smiles from my youngest guy while we hung out together without any older boys to steal the show.  Then we all watched the US play an agonizing World Cup game.  After that we had lunch.  Now Rye is sleeping and Noah and Ben are playing in their forts and I have time to post this on our blog.  (See picture below)  

If only every day could be like this.

Delivery Day

No, its not what you think. Even though Baby Pasta showed signs of coming early, he has changed his mind and is now comfortably camped out in my belly having a great time.

But we did have another exciting delivery on our street...

A HOUSE THAT WAS PUT UP IN THREE HOURS.

 Here is what happened between 7:30 and 8:05.

Yes, those are kitchen cabinets.  

The dishwasher and microwave are already installed as well.

At 8:05 the first floor was in place and we just had to wait for the trucks to bring in the second floor.

While we waited for the next section to arrive, we got some visitors.  Parker and Bayden both stopped by to watch the crane lift the second floor into place.

The second floor comes with the roof attached.  All they had to do was pop up the roof and nail in the supports.  The triangles hanging on the side of the building popped right into place and completed the job.  It was like building with Lincoln Logs.  10:30 and the job was done!  I dropped Noah and Ben off at school after the trucks pulled out and now the guys are cleaning up and finishing up the shingles and siding.

If you have to have a house built across the street, this is the way to go. 

Anyone looking for a 4 brm, 2 1/2 bath house on a quiet street???

Remodeling projects

My WONDERFUL husband decided to redo our upstairs bathroom over Christmas. The remodel was quite an undertaking and a labor of love. (I asked him to do it before the baby came.) Here is what he has accomplished over the last month during his spare time.
1. demolition -remove door, dry wall, shower enclosure, cabinets, sink, toilet, floor
2. rewired bathroom
3. reframed wall near sink
4. framed in space for recessed drawers
5. install new lighting
6. install new vent system
7. new plumbing (with a little help from plumber)
8. new subfloor
9. hang new drywall
10. prime and paint walls
11. tile and grout new floor
12. install toilet
13. install shower
14. put in new medicine cabinet

Meanwhile the other Millers were busy doing projects of their own. Noah took some scraps that Drew had lying around and made this chair without any help other than to ask his Papa to cut off one side of the circle in order to fix it to the bottom of the chair. I think he may have a future at Harrison Higgins Inc.



A lot of the rest of their time off school was spent outside making forts with the fort building stuff my dad gave them for Christmas. Here are just two examples of the forts they built. (They also spent time building "see-saws" to launch snowballs, a pumpkin left over from Halloween, and each other into the air.)






This week Noah stayed home with a bad cough which kept him home from school but didn't keep him from going outside to play. The boys spent an hour trying to catch a neighborhood cat with a crate hooked up to a rope. Ben sat under their newest fort without moving (for 20 minutes-I counted) holding the rope in hopes of catching the cat. (don't worry...I would not have allowed them to do this if their trap had any chance of working)


While all of the boys in our family have been busy building, I have been busy growing a third boy in my tummy. He is doing very well and we are all excited about his arrival some time in April.
